Serving the Town: Winchester Wrestling at the EnKa Fair

On the Mat and Off It

Winchester Wrestling spent a May weekend serving the town that backs us all year, working the beverage tent at the EnKa Fair. Nearly 20 wrestlers and a dozen parent volunteers took shifts, and the team showed up in force. Rainy Friday, sunny Saturday, and a good time start to finish.

Events like this are how the program gives back. Working the tent puts our wrestlers in front of the community in a different role, not as competitors but as neighbors pitching in. It also teaches something the mat cannot: showing up for a long shift, staying friendly with a steady line of customers, and doing the unglamorous work well.

Wrestling is a winter sport, but this team runs all year. The off-season is when we volunteer, train, and stay connected as a group, and weekends like this one are a big part of that.

Thank you to every wrestler and parent who took a shift, and thank you to the EnKa Society for having us. There is a spot on the mat for you.
